Trinity Church – The Southernmost Gate to Heaven

Trinity Church is a small Russian Orthodox church on King George Island near Russian Bellingshausen Station in Antarctica. It is the southernmost Eastern Orthodox church in the world and also is the evidence of great human architecture at the south pole. Built in 1990s, the church is a 15m-high wooden structure built in traditional Russian style. It can accommodate up to 30 worshipers at one time. The structure was built out of Siberian Pine by Altay carpenters, then dismantled, taken by truck to Kaliningrad and shipped to King George Island by the Russian supply ship.

Hankai House – Ancient Japanese House Inside a Modern Home

Hankai house, which is located at Akashi City at Hyogo, is a spectacular architecture marvel in Japan. It is a question much older than even this ancient Japanese home, the original portions of which date back over three hundreds years: how does one pay due respect to traditional forms when making contemporary additions, expansions and/or remodels that necessarily impact the existing site and structure?

A Giant Book at Lake Constance in Bregenz

A floating stage, resembled a giant book on Lake Constance in Bregenz, Austria can be considered as the biggest book on earth. However, the giant book of Lake Constance can only be seen during Quantum of Solace festival each year. The festival has become renowned for its unconventional staging of shows. The example of its strange opera show was Verdi’ s opera “A Masked Ball” in 1999 featured a giant book being read by a skeleton.

Wooden Face-like House at Ski Mountain

This face-like house is among the best wooden architecture building in United States. Designed by Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates a long time ago, the ski house is built for a family with two children where the purpose is to accommodate them with a large number of guests.
