Trinity Church is a small Russian Orthodox church on King George Island near Russian Bellingshausen Station in Antarctica. It is the southernmost Eastern Orthodox church in the world and also is the evidence of great human architecture at the south pole. Built in 1990s, the church is a 15m-high wooden structure built in traditional Russian style. It can accommodate up to 30 worshipers at one time. The structure was built out of Siberian Pine by Altay carpenters, then dismantled, taken by truck to Kaliningrad and shipped to King George Island by the Russian supply ship.

Scorching heat and acrid smoke have nearly doubled death rates in Moscow. Where does the smoke come from? It is actually coming from the raging fire from the forest nearby. Firefighters battled wildfires covering 1,740 square km (1,075 sq miles) in what the state weather forecaster said was Russia’s worst heat wave for a millennium. The average death rate in the city during normal times is between 360 and 380 people per day! It’s more than 40 degrees (Celsius, or 104 Fahrenheit) on the street. Can you imagine? It is HELL!

Atomium is a stunning monument designed by the engineer Andre Waterkeyn for the International Exhibition of Brussels, that took place here in 1958. The Atomium, which is a structure that is half way between sculpture and architecture, symbolising a crystallised molecule of iron by the scale of its atoms, magnified 150 thousand million times.
